THE FUTURE PLAY

Everyone has their pandemic project story. Mine is Fly Sports. I launched a DTC apparel brand for kids. My passion for climate change advocacy and my training with Al Gore’s Climate Reality Project led me to bring to market an apparel brand focused on changing the ways things are done in the apparel industry. In just one year, the clothing industry will contribute 1.2 billion tons of CO2 emissions into our air - we want to be part of the change. We’ve designed and developed a line of active apparel using recycled materials without compromising comfort or performance. The best part of this project - it’s a family affair. Both of my two kids and husband contribute and we focus on this being an entrepreneurial learning opportunity.

Some Highlights….

  • Created visual brand identity, brand positioning, to bring to life a distinctly different take on kid’s active apparel.

  • In collaboration with apparel designer, designed launch collection.

  • Sourced all recycled and sustainable fabrics remotely while on lockdown

  • Managed entire production process with LA based factory.

  • Worked with sustainability consultant to ensure circular strategy and to integrate best practices with product and production process.

  • Designed and launched Shopify site to enable sales.

  • Currently launching Ambassador program.


Most Meaningful Lesson:

Accept the long game. When you are truly passionate about something you stay committed and don’t doubt yourself. You show up when you can, how you can and trust that you will get where you want to be.
